I love that blend but find it’s much better after a month in the jar once the topping has mellowed a little. I’m waiting on another tin atm, I went through the last one pdq. I also recommend F&K Lancer Slices when it’s available, it’s a broken flake and has a slightly milder top to it and it’s available in bulk.

Afternoon everyone, started the day with Peterson DNR’s in the straight ‘22 Masta Patent Pipe, followed it with Sun Bear BL in the BBB bent bulldog and I’m now satisfying a sweet craving with C&D’s Captain’s Blend in this Hardcastle Special Quality.
I just received this CD with at least seven ancient books about tobacco, pipes and paraphernalia, including books on production and blending. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can learn from it in regards to my own blending technique. image.jpg

Good day all! Started with an old sample of Lane Medal of Valor; the sweetness made it seem a likely "breakfast" candidate but it was still too heavy (Wilke Lizzie Blood Red English fills the bill for me). Switched to trying GL Pease Stonehenge Flake in a small flake pipe, a Burak Connoisseur tankard size 2, but lost the richness/smoothness this blends has for me in larger pipes. So, back to tried-and-true. Elizabethan Mixture is up next - after lunch.
