I wasn't going to acquire any more pipes until June, but I guess I meant Petersons, lol. Apparently 62 year old Dunhill pots aren't as "dear" as other styles, so I got it for a very reasonable sum and that scratches that itch forever, lol. It's in perfect condition, and I love a compact pot! Still undecided for tobacco - drying in the little bowls are Wilke Cherry Cavendish and Dave's Fine Tobaccos in West Des Moines' Jamaican Rum, we'll see!

I can't get rid of the stinky baccy smell from my clay pipes; I'm sure the stem on my church warden pipe is a bit clogged but can't get a pipe cleaner all the way along as it's too long for a 6 inch one and too thin for one of my long church warden pipe cleaners...
I don't want to oven clean my clays as it would make the oven stink of stale pipe baccy...
Any recommendations on suitable tobacco for clay pipes???
Some aromatic blends can leave a sticky residue while others burn too hot. The slow smoking competition I read about online uses St Bruno Ready Rubbed in the clay pipes so it must be suited to clays...
I found the Sutliff Peppermint Mocha far too sticky for clay pipe smoking; I'll have to gift it to James (as a thanks for the Clan) or Jamie...
Going to Buxton Crescent tomorrow; need to keep out of the shop that sells clay pipes and loose Gawith Hoggarth pipe baccy!

So yesterday I smoked Penzance for the first time and if I’m honest was very underwhelmed. It was nice, sure, but kinda meh. Today I loaded up the same grabow with it and went to mow the lawns. Now she was banging. Smokiness was more woodsy than campfire with a rich caramel sweetness throughout, most surprising was the end of the bowl developed a meatiness very akin to black twist. I’m glad to report I enjoyed the sample, and now I can get into more important things like trying to decide which burley I will smoke this afternoon. ✌?
