New to me 1987 Peterson Rocky something something. I bought a sibling of this pipe as well from the same guy. Presbyterian in the bowl. I read some tobacco experts on the forums recommend letting the stuff stew in the bowl an hour before smoking, so I packed it then ran some errands and gave it a go when I took the parents dogo out into the marsh. Really cleaned up nicely.

Men who look into the void are men who live lives of quiet desperation. Men who enter the void and the successfully cross it to the other side, these are explorers.

"If in the forest you see two paths diverge, make your own."

Douglas Sexton
Your quote from Black Elk reminds me of the time his grandson visited our house in 1985 when he gave me a copy of his grandfather's book THE SACRED PIPE: BLACK ELK'S ACCOUNT OF THE SEVEN RITES OF THE OGLALA SIOUX signed and dedicated with the information that his name as hereditary chief means Chanupa Sapa ("A Sacred Black Pipe Born of Thunder, Lightning and Rain")
Finally he can meet his good buddy Jeffrey Epstein , may god protect them ??
... and the prize for the most tasteless and inaccurate comment of the year goes to ...

Whole leaf blend, trying something a little different. Kentucky base with just a touch of everything else.

Kentucky 50%
Stoved red virginia 15%
Stoved bright virginia 10%
Latakia 10%
Perique 5%
Oriental mix(basma and prelip) 5%

Pressed to a crumble cake then stoved for a few hours. The stoving really darkened it, almost too much, as it lost any of the bright notes it had, but smokes cool with a little oily quality to it like black xx. Mildly sweet and a little fruity from the perique and virginias which are almost cavendish at this point with the double stoving. Don't think I'll stove it as much next time but it's a nice change of pace.

Through a cob.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, wild caught flounder and sugar snap peas dinner with a couple of freshly baked blueberry muffins for dessert. I've about a quarter of a bowl left of year 2013 Capstan Gold in a post-WWII Bertram 60 straight smooth dark brown squat bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.
