My third reread of "The Robber Barons." So much to be learned about some of my favorite Americans ... so little time left. A few of them spanned the continent with iron rails and only used government funds. Never spent a dime of their own moneys.

Just finished The Lord of the Rings (again).

Currently I am alternating between The Civil War: A Narrative, Vol. 1 by Shelby Foote and The World-Ending Fire: The Essential Wendell Berry.

This is an interesting book. I don’t try to agree or disagree or apprehend the author’s politics, BTW. But I find her to be an extraordinary talent. I love all her science fiction. I recommend all the books and short stories in her Hainish series and they don’t need to be read in any particular order.
