I'm on the road today, staying in Geneva NY. I ask the hotel is there an outside seating/dock bar nearby? Sure, "Crows Nest" is a mile from the hotel. Looks like a nice place, but "no smoking" signs everywhere. I go into the screened-in, nearly empty bar. Hockey game is on - check. Can I smoke here, "no", anywhere on the property: "no". I'm starving and it's close to 9 PM so I order some scallops, gulp them down with a beer. I ended up smoking my pipe beside the car, listening to Game 7 of the NHL finals on XM. Very pleasant until the mosquitoes found me..... The manager said smoking isn't allowed in any NY bar. I travel a lot, in NY so I know that is BS. Still a pleasant night to listen to one period of hockey looking over a nice lake.
