I listen to a genre like sludge. You can often hear some blues in it and get a good feel for the atmosphere of the South.

I am listening to the Browns (Jim Ed, Maxine and Bonnie) who were trio of siblings who could harmonize tremendously well. Vince Gill once called the harmonies "blood harmony". Tough to harmonize any better
than three siblings.

I loved hearing this when it came out, rose in the charts around the world, 1967. The write up says the melody has roots in the early 18th century, crazy. First vid is the hit vesrion, next is one is Aretha, recorded in 1987 in Detroit.
My last post for the month. Sadly this is a huge disappointment for me. I bought this when it came out in 1978. Direct to disc recordings were quite popular back then as digital recordings were just coming out. All I can say is what a huge waste! I am not impressed with this recording as far as the content is concerned. I love Dave Brubeck! But this recording is a huge disservice to him and the original quartet. I have nothing against Brubeck's sons, and they seem to be decent musicians, but adding an early type of synthesizer to his music just sounds wrong. There's some newer stuff here, but mostly Brubeck's earlier work modernized to 1980s listening. Sorry not for me... a total waste of the difficult process of direct to disc recording, which does sound great, but I just wished I liked the sound of the music more.
