David Allen Coe, Hank Williams Jr, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Paycheck transformed from the short haired, straight laced, rhinestone Nudie suit mainstream Nashville persona into outlaw singers, and I think wore their hair long and grew beards and looked so greasy to sell records.

But as for Johnny Paycheck, he made every hillbilly singers list when he wrote

The Grand Ole Opry expelled the original Hank Williams and Lefty Frizzell both, for drunkenness.

They remain Hank and Lefty, anyway.

I assume that everyone pretty much knows that or isn't interested in knowing that. So what I was inquiring was why someone would write off and be done with Mr. Paycheck? I think I followed it but honestly hope I was wrong about why.
