Decided to go on a midweek space trip to end the evening. If you like Hawkwind you may dig this band.

I've been super anxious lately, so I have Cristobal de Morales' Officium Defunctorum and Missa Pro Defunctis on repeat. The music washes over me.

This one may be familiar, loved the melody from the first I heard it. This is an early 20th century Cuban folk song, made world famous when the Sandpipers picked it up in 1966, in silky smooth harmony. Still like it so much that several years ago when I found YouTube recordings I learned to sing it. "The streams of the mountains please me more than the sea."

The second video is a version by Joan Baez, not sure the year, forgot what a remarkable voice she had.

(Bit of amusing trivia, SNL did a skit singng this song that included Chevy Chase. They replaced Guantanamera,
Guajira guantanamera, with "One ton tomato, I eat a one ton tomato"...LOL. I saw it on line once many years ago, but have never been able to find it again.)

My journey into jazz eventually led me to Miles Davis, and that naturally led me onto his 'electric' period and I believe the first album in that regard was 'In A Silent Way', one of the few albums that I played twice over on its first listening.....awesome stuff.



This led to his full on funky jazz which introduced me to the likes of Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, John McLaughlin and I've been delving into their albums too......watch this space!

Check out Weather Report, Bitches Brew is great but the jams mostly just fizzle out. Weather Report feels like where Miles Left off to me
