Ditto for the Atlantic Period. My Dad was a performing jazz bassist (Dub Ericcson Orchestra). The Trane was his favorite sax player. He used to say that Coltrane never blew a "wet" note in his life (for wet notes examples just listen to Junior Walker). Glad to know there are other aficionados out there.

I should add that, among current sax players, I consider Mike Phillips the closest to Coltrane's technique.
Co!trane's duet album with Thelonius Monk is also one of the great jazz albums. Get a digital version if you don't already have it. Cheers!
