Last night I had a nice dram of Deanston 12 Year Old. Since I uncorked the bottle a few months ago, it has darkened, the taste is sweeter and more intense, damn, it tastes almost like bourbon, it's delicious.
My wife's boss gave her some Meyer lemons from the tree in her yard. There is a old saying, "When wife gives you lemons, make lemonade". That's exactly what I did, and I added some bourbon as well.
Our friend John is visiting for UFC and my birthday on Saturday. We started off with Balcones Lineage Texas Single Malt Whisky Pot Distilled, 47% ABV.
Since we’re now smoking Visions of Celephaïs with its grape flavour, I thought it appropriate to pair it with some vintage Matusa grappa (circa 1950s or 1960s—a wonderful gift from our friends, Paul and Juliet). Most grappa tastes like rocket fuel to me—this stuff tastes like no other grappa I’ve ever had and is just plain awesome.
