It comes in weights like 1/10 ounce as well, plus a handful of silver rounds are nice.
I used to work as an independent gold dealer/broker in NY and the premiums on the sell are very volatile. You never make money; it's a decent hedge if you leave loooonnnnnnng term like 15-20 years but overall if you are going to trade in gold and need cash to barter for goods it's very difficult to work and ends up being more trouble than it's worth. USD are always better(as long as they are backed by a sound US government-which may now change)

you had to register the weapon when you purchased it
Not all legal purchases or exchanges requires registration or a background check. Well, not yet and not in certain jurisdictions. It's a wide world out there and laws vary.

If you purchased legally where registration and/or background checks were not required why in the world would you proclaim such publicly? Then there are the certified CCW idiots who proclaim such. Sorry, I simply do not understand the mentality which wants to share such information wily-nily to every other person on the internet. I suspect they are the same prople who flash their legally hidden weapon as often as possible, broadcast the fact that they have a full gun safe or carry a weapon in their vehicle, It's a mindset I simply do not understand.

Certain personal safety info should remain yours alone. The guy with the black belt is better served by simply whipping someone as opposed broadcasting their status. The noise and burning powder coming from your coat pocket should be the first indication to a bad guy that he picked the wrong victim.

Then you've got the posters who gleefully admit that they have no understanding of the when they can shot or, if they do, the fact that they'd happily drop the hammer on some deserving soul. Such info will serve them badly in a court of law, criminal or, perish the thought, civil.

I don't disagree with you in general. In the States I'm familiar with, you have to have a CCW to purchase a gun and it is registered in your name then. The same is true if you purchase it legally at a gun show. I do realize individuals sell their guns to others. Technically, these transactions should be registered. If I sold a gun, I'd want that sale and transfer of ownership registered in case that gun was ever involved in an illegal act.

I make no secret I own guns but I generally don't provide a detailed inventory and talk much about it. I see no reason to hide that information either as all the firearms I've purchased were done so legally and registered. When I'm carrying concealed, unless you have a very good eye, you'd have no idea.

rotf Well, I know for me, before stroking out, my employment required weapons licensing from the DPS. In Boulder, Montana I was elected mayor long ago which also placed me as the de facto police commissioner. It may just be my personal paranoia, but I think I went "on the radar" a while back. :col:

I'm a bit ignorant to the difference; they're one ounce coins

Those are ungraded Silver Eagles. Slight premium above spot silver depending on their condition but I would put them in holders, condition is everything in coins. Here is a similar coin graded at the highest which is a “70”.

Bullion is silver made by a metal company, usually only worth whatever silver is worth. Like this one:

As the pastor of my church likes to say, "Energy follows attention".
If you spend vast amounts of time watching TV (especially the 24 hour news channels), or following the news in other ways, and obsessing over how bad it is, you are liable to get really depressed and think it is the end of the world.
The Black Death is estimated to have killed 30 to 60% of Europe's population. It took 200 years to recover - but we did.
Yes, it's bad. Yes, it's scary. Not denying that. But obsessing over it does not help.
Turn off the TV. Limit your consumption of discussions and so on of the subject on social media, including forums. Walk the dog. Take a walk yourself. Play with your kids or grandkids. Read a book. Work in your yard or on your house. Smoke your pipe, for heaven's sake.
This, too, shall pass.

Don’t Despair…
by Hafez

Joseph to his father in Canaan shall return,
Don’t despair walk on;
and Jacob’s hut will brighten with flowers,
Don’t despair walk on.

Aching hearts heal in time,
vanished hopes reappear,
the disparate mind will be pacified,
don’t despair walk on.

As the spring of life grows the newly green meadow,
roses will crown the sweet nightingale’s song,
don’t despair walk on

If the world does not turn to your whims these few days,
cosmic cycles are preparing to change,
don’t despair walk on.

If desperation whispers you’ll never know God,
it’s the talk of hidden games in the veil,
don’t despair walk on.

O heart, when the vast flood slashes life to its roots,
Captain Noah waits to steer you ashore,
don’t despair walk on.

If you trek as a pilgrim through sands to Kaabeh
with thorns lodged deep in your soul shouting why,
don’t despair walk on

Though oases hide dangers and your destiny’s far,
there’s no pathway that goes on forever,
don’t despair walk on.

My trials and enemies face me on their own,
but mystery always backs up my stand,
don’t despair walk on.

Hafez, weakened by poverty, alone in the dark,
this night is your pathway into the light,
don’t despair walk on.

Junk silver is pretty popular and easy to sell to hoarders. You don't have to worry about condition, you can just save the coins in gallon jugs in your closet. Mercury dimes and pre-64 Washington quarters are easy.

But still, I feel bad for poor Esau's loss of his birthright to Jacob. Issac's deathbed wish was that Esau was to inherit everything. Doesn't that make Jacob a dishonest con man?
It appears that Esau was swindled out of his father's blessing and that Jacob's hut was brightened with stolen flowers.

You melt them down to make bullets to kill werewolfs and other demons. I know defacing coins is illegal but when you are fighting a werewolf, you don't care.

No, it doesn't. The dishonest man was Esau, a bully and a scoundrel who refused to tell his father that he had sold the inheritance to Jacob for a pittance. Instead, he tried to gain back what he had sold away through sheer bully force and dishonesty (an incipient politician). This is what irked Rebecca, who knew of the lentil bowl episode and had to resort to craftiness to help Jacob retain what was already his.
