When we started back to the YMCA a couple of weeks ago, I broke down and bought an Apple Watch. I wanted something to track my workouts and laps that I swim. But, so far I hate it. The Apple Watch SE doesn't do half of what FitBits do, and I am distracted everytime I check the time by all of the other bullshit on the watch. Breathing and Mindfulness, WTF!! Apple products are time sucks. I will most likely keep it just to wear to the gym, but for everyday wear, I think Apple is inferior to just wearing a good watch.
But, the more I think about it, I may just trade it for one of the new FitBits, which tracks sleep cycles, O2 absorption, with superior heart monitoring electronics that Apple.

This thread inspired me to pull out one of my 'fun watches' to wear today:

DLC Aquadive Bathyscaphe 100 on a GasGasBones velcro strap:

Would love to add a Sinn U series to my collection soon too, those watches are gorgeous. And I have a soft spot for 4-o'clock crowns.

Also a lover of squared 5600 series G-Shocks, so compact, so many features, so reliable.

Can't go wrong with Tissot. Always a solid pick.
The date has been erratic. Sometimes it changes 3 hours late, 6 hours late, 9 hours late, or 12 hours late. The time, however, is spot on. Probably need to send it in but I’m dreading how long it will most likely take. So I’ve just been resetting it when this happens.

The Sinn U50 is calling my name, too bad my bank account isn't.

That's weird. Any good watchmaker should be able to fix that fairly quickly, unless they're waiting on parts, which these days......

I always try to buy my watches without the analog date option. I hate having to reset them on months with 28 and 30 days to the month. Mine, I just let the date stay at whatever it is. I rarely ever have to know the date at a moments notice.

I am not sure that the movement can be worked on besides tissot service. It must be laser regulated.

That’s also why I haven’t sent it in… the date isn’t that important although it’s sometimes alarming to look at it in the morning and have a twilight zone/Groundhog Day moment.

I don’t regularly wear a watch anymore. I have several wristwatches, my favorite is my old Seiko Diver 6105 that I bought back in the 1970’s when I was in the service

I had it totally gone through back about 10 years ago by Jack Alexyon at International Watch Works, and I’ve only worn it a handful of times since.

I wear a wrist watch at all times. I don't feel whole without a watch. I would love to have a fancy watch but I'm so hard on them that I don't see the point ( for myself) to get anything over 150 bucks. Currently wearing a Bulova and a Timex. I use the Timex when working outside. Damn thing is tough as nails and quite frankly the best 10 dollars I've spent in a long time.20220123_102104.jpg

Three examples of watches that have Tritium tubes.

All are rated T25 but Ball have some models rated T100 (not allowed in Japan...).

Trainmaster 135 Anniversary. This was a limited edition but other variations are still available from Ball

Road Master Singapore Bicentennial (aka Road Master Raffles) limited edition. I usually wear this one every night because it is very bright.

The 'raffles' would be too bright to wear in a theatre (or probably on an aeroplane) but the other two glow just enough to be legible without acting as distress beacons.

The watch is made in Russia (Buyalov Design - Demitry Buyalov was formerly chief designer to Vostok but now runs his own 'microbrand' and also the Meranom online watch store). Russian text around the sub-dial translates as 'dirigible' or 'airship' which is the model name of this watch.

Movement is Chinese; a Sea-Gull clone of the Swiss UNITAS movement that was originally (and still is) used for pocket watches

Since this seems like the place to ask, are Lilianthal Berlin watches any good?
Not a brand I'm familiar with and I couldn't find any references to them in the watchuseek.com public forums; but I did see this review of their Zeitgeist model which seems positive:

Hands-on Lilienthal Berlin Watches Review - The Watch Blog - https://www.thewatchblog.co.uk/lilienthal-berlin-watches-review/

Uses a Swiss made Selita SW200 movement which is a clone of the long established ETA2824 (ETA are part of the Swatch group and have been - or have been forced by competition authorities - to reduce the number of non-group manufacturers they supply.

Selita are a long established maker of watch movement components (and indeed supplied ETA for many years) and now have their own range of ETA compatible movements and supply many well known brands who can no longer source ETA movements.

Looks like Liianthal Berlin use Swiss Ronda movements for their quartz watches. Again, a well established maker of these components.

All said and done, they have some nice designs; they are using established watch movements and seem to be priced about right.
