Nothing better than Esoterica Dunbar if you can find it. Fortunately I still have six tins.
I thought the exact same thing. Then someone sent me Dorchester……. Blew my mind.Nothing better than Esoterica Dunbar if you can find it. Fortunately I still have six tins.
Ah, didn't even know there was a match Elizabethan. When I was referring to Elizabethan I was referring to the match Elizabethan vs match Victorian.
I think match in general is better than peterson.
Match Elizabethan and Match Victorian are the exact same blend, just renamed. Perhaps Sutliff changed the names on their match blends before they got sued by Peterson (or Dunhill).Ah, didn't even know there was a match Elizabethan.
WVSmokeshop was selling both Match Victorian, and Match Elizabethan at the same time. They simply wrote Elizabethan right over the Victorian.Match Elizabethan and Match Victorian are the exact same blend, just renamed. Thus, the blend originally called Match Elizabethan became Match Victorian; Match Nightcap became Match Late Evening; Match Early Morning Pipe became Match Sunrise. Pipesandcigars.com kept some of the original names for a while, perpetuating the confusion.
I thought the exact same thing. Then someone sent me Dorchester……. Blew my mind.
If anyone can mention something that is very similar to Dorchester, I am all ears and want to try it.
Sutliff Match Victorian was modeled after the Murray's version of Elizabethan Mixture, which is a different balance than the STG version.I couldn’t even finish a tin of the STG Elizabethan Mixture. Granted it wasn’t aged, but it was wildly different to me than Suttliff Match Victorian.
This was my entry into VAPERS, but lately it is too mild. My “go to” is Dunbar, Old Gowrie, C&S Red VA w/ Perique. Tastes change……A plug for Peretti's Park Square . . .
Absolutely agree. I have a handful of OG Beacon and Extra that I am rationing. Living in Missouri I was a McClelland boy thru and thru. Visited with Mike and Mary O'Neil at KC and St Louis pipe shows. Still grieving their closing but Mike said the quality tobacco was slowly vanishing and it was too hard to maintain their blends. End of an Era.If you ever have the chance to try some Beacon Extra it will blow your hair back. Love the stuff but sadly gone the way of the dodo.![]()
