I've been thinking about the component tobaccos independent blenders sourced from Sutliff. There's really no reason why STG can't supply this from Danish production. The components in Peter Stokkebye bulk will likely be sold wholesale to these blenders. The only open question in my mind is what about the cakes that were contract manufactured for people like Peretti.

Tobaccopipes has delisted Savinelli Doblones d'Oro and Brunello Flake, both made by Mac Baren. Website fluke? The beginning of a landslide? If I wanted anymore Brunello, I'd be buying a couple stacks of it ASAP.
I mean TobaccoPipes is closing as part of Sutliff so it may be that. It also may not be that so..? shrug

Interesting. I've always gotten the "enter email to be notified when back in stock" on their website.

Yep, gone. Was there when I bought a few tins a couple of weeks ago. Usually they will show the product and indicate that it's OOS. Guess it's REALLY OOS. Don't worry about it. The new edition isn't what it was. It's not crap, but it's not Doblone d'Oro, just pleasantly innocuous something else. You haven't missed anything.

Any idea concerning impact on Mr. B’s (Brigham) tobacco blends in Canada? I believe they are Sutliff products now if I‘m not mistaken.

Tobacco is so expensive up here, and the possibility of bringing it in cheaply from the States is increasingly difficult.

Probably true - earliest tin I had was 2018 and while "fun," it wasn't a wow-me blend. I never had the earlier incarnation or Three Nuns for that matter, so ignorance is bliss. That Brunello was a nice blend, however, and I will miss it, but I've got a few tins stashed away.

Brunello Flake is definitely up there in my favorites, particularly for VA, but not necessarily "top 10 of all types"... but I'm also not enamored with VA blends in general like most seem to be (I don't hate them mind, I just don't see them as more magical than burley based blends, aros or English), so I don't know how VA fans feel about that blend.

Regardless, it's worth trying for anybody. I'll be sad if that one ends up on the chopping block, but it's not like I'll be devastated. I like it, but not enough to scramble to stock up.

Never tried Doblones d'Oro. I've debated several times about picking up a tin, probably would have if it was offered in 50 grams instead of 100, because I don't want that much of it if it's just OK to me when there were other blends I was more interested in trying.

Both blends still currently show available on SP.

Both blends on sale right now @ SP. Grabbed a few more Brunellos for posterity. I like the Danish style and I freaking love a lot of Mac Baren products. C'est la vie.

Doblones d'Oro = Delicious.

I like a bit of Brunello Flake, too. Tart and tasty. I took some to Italy this summer and really enjoyed it in a big old Castello.

I will miss the HH flakes the most. I doubt I have enough cellared, but I will stick with C&D blends which I find always interesting.

I did get my old codger Pipes and Cigars catalog in the mail today where you call to order. It shows nearly everything still in stock, but I think otherwise having checked their website. I'm going to save that catalog in a box somewhere to someday remember all the blends we lost.

I wonder what the import taxes on the non-domestic bulk tobaccos to blenders would be if they can no longer source domestically via Richmond? Only time will tell.

It's on the list of blends to be kept. One of the few.
Yeah. I bought a bunch of the tins/RR just incase….. but it was like literally 1 day before they dropped that memo of it being continued.
Still a win win for me.
The Tins went on sale for about 17$ and then the RR bags went on sale for 13$.
By the time you factor in the 20% off coupon and free shipping….. well I wasn’t the loser in that purchase.

I have speculated the blend may change when it moves plants. Either for the better or the worse.
I still want some old tins that say Mac Baren on them!
