The Danes have a strong culture of collectivism. For thousands of years, they have maintained what is essentially a monoculture, where everyone looks alike, speaks the same language, shares some essential DNA and understands the importance of circling the wagons. Individuality and individual exceptionalism is frowned upon. So it’s no surprise that Danish blendings reflect that culture. Some call it catering to the lowest common denominator, while some praise it as a manifestation of unit cohesion. Either way, STG is the tobacco equivalent of Muzak.

This is an interesting read…

For a further, historical insight into the Danish national attitude, I recommend the Danish TV series '1864' (available on DVD). I caught it on UK TV a few years ago, and at first assumed from the uniforms it was about the American Civil War (something that has fascinated me since childhood, for some reason). Otherwise, I wouldn't have started watching it - but I soon got sucked in. It explains an awful lot about Danes, in their relationships with other nations...

To spend $350 on 15 tins of Plum Pudding BB Aged so I always have some, or just be happy I have Pembroke hookup? Or buy several lbs of Northwoods and Countryside in case they are affected...STG has changed my holiday budget, that's for sure
For what it's worth, I was in Boswell's 2 weeks ago right after this news dropped. J.M. was there that day along with the young man who is the store manager (I unfortunately forget his name). I was asking the store manager how this might affect the Boswell's blends moving forward and he shrugged it off and said that it would NOT affect Boswell's blends. Now, I did not ask J.M. himself, but the store manager in Chambersburg told me that it was not a worry for them. I'm just reporting what I was told.

I believe it's STG who produce Revor Plug for Gawith. As long as they keep making that and don't fuck with the recipe then I can live with them discontinuing some other blends. It's a shame though. Sutliff have recently started selling some crumble cakes in the UK. Looks like I'll have to hurry up and buy some if I want to give them a try.

This is excellent news if true.

They also told me that Sutliff was moving to Georgia to work with Lane. He was shocked when I said Lane hasn’t been in GA in at least 5 years. I am not confident in their statements.

Edit not JM but some of the employees.

That's fair, but in your interaction with them they were talking about a different company and it's processes that were not directly Boswell processes. Hopefully the store manager at least is aware of where and how Boswells sources the tobacco for their own blends.

Pipe smoking is about as rare and bizzare as any activity you can think of.

Smoking cigarettes is rapidly going away, and that's a normal and semi popular thing to do.

Pipe smoking is going to die, this is a symptom of that... We all know it's coming. Will we act suprised when there's no pipe tobacco to buy?

RED ALERT!!!!: Buy tobacco now, or prepare to be without it.

Greed doesn't have anything to do with this... People weren't selling pipe tobacco in the past because they are friendly, they were selling it because there was a market.

As the market dies, so does the pipe tobacco business.
I respect your opinion, but is the death of pipe tobacco that nigh?

Did you happen to notice if they smell different?

Because it sounds like that will be next if it hasn't happened already:
