Grabow makes a damn fine pipe, and the occasional piece done late on a Friday or early Monday morning. Couple people mentioned Willard, also a Grabow. Have to imagine a decent number of people own Sparta produced pipes and have no idea, they made a lot of stuff.

The Royalton line comes with a filtered bayonet style Acrylic push stem, still in production.

I'm big on their older stuff like this Commodore, unfiltered threaded Vulcanite stem.

As someone already mentioned, I don't think Grabow is underrated, if anything their praise is excessive haha. They are well respected here, as are cobs.

My answer is Brigham, I have four of them. You can get a brand new Brigham for $40 in the u.s, and of course they go higher and higher end, but most of their pipes are under $100 (well under), and that $40 pipe will smoke great and they have their own filter thing that works really good. They get brought up from time to time, but they certainly don't get the praise I think they deserve. It may be partly because they were a Canadian made pipe for many decades and I think mostly marketed in Canada, so I'm not sure they've had a long history on the American market yet, not sure about the European market.

Lorenzo and Molina rarely get discussed on the forum but I've heard they're very good value.

Under $100, my goto is Stanwell. I especially like their inexpensive Vario line as everyday smokers. I'm pretty impressed with the Chacom pipe I recently purchased. Both Stanwell's and the Chacom required a little modifying of the stem airway in order for them to smoke the way I like but well worth the extra effort IMO.

I really like Stanwell. They are disproportionately represented in my collection. The brand is always on my short list of recommendations to people starting a rotation. I have a Vario 86 that feels good to hold. I didn’t mention them here because Stanwell (and Savinelli, for that matter), as far as today’s pipe smoking climate goes, may be too popular to be considered underrated.

That said, I guess the same could disqualify Dr. Grabow from underrated status.

While not underrated by functionality, they are underrated aesthetically. Of course, I speak of the Falcon pipe. The plumbing fixture dig comes up often enough but some of us find function beautiful.

I hardly ever buy new pipes, but in the estate market, I personally think earlier KBB Yello Boles and the lesser Barlings (post-tran and second lines/sub brands) are criminally undervalued. Ditto for Stanwell sub-brands. But my favorite underrated brand of all time is Imported Briar. Real Briar and Genuine Imported Briar both shite brands, but IB made some real beauties that smoke great.
