It is funny this got brought up. I was sitting on the front porch last week smoking an Al Pascia Curvy, which kind of looks like a weed pipe anyway, because the HVAC guys were busy in the backyard near my normal smoking spot. As I sat there puffing away to take a short break from work, some lady - Karen or Becky or whomever - was driving by, saw me and slowed down - jaw agape. I guess she thought I was brazenly roking the ganja in broad daylight.

I like to think she went to bed a little disturbed that night.
I would probably be surprised to see a pipe-smoking T-rex too...

I think I've gotten too old for modern times.puffy
I was born old.

No problems here, but I do try to inconspicuously make my pipe inconspicuous if I see cops when I'm driving. When I have the car parked and am just sitting there, I don't. I'm more concerned about the new invented 'sin' of 'distracted driving' than about pot-related stuff. Although, I do take the latter into consideration, because whilst 'huanna might be legal, toking and driving is not. I don't need to give them an excuse to waste my time with a pull over and, worse, sticking a darn swab in my mouth.

nah I mean maybe if you were smoking a tiny little pipe and taking puffs and hiding it.. but if you're smoking a normal briar pipe and someone thinks there's weed in there they are beyond obtuse.
No problems for me. There is no hiding the smell of weed being hot boxed in a car out of a pipe, bong or roll your own. Ill just stick to pipe tobaccos. Although probably get way more police attention driving with a 3 ft bong in a car.
right.. plenty of good guys and good being done I don't mean it that way.
but it's the only job really besides working in a factory where you need no skills at all, or even really any training.
Then they're set loose with a gun. Some of these kids I see around here have gotta be not a day over 19.
Have to be 21 yrs old to posses a hand gun. Most states 40 ish i believe have min age of 21. there is a few States that will let you be a cop at 19 or 19 and a half.

Has anyone had trouble with the police, while smoking your tobacco pipe? Any misunderstanding about what you're smoking in it?

Years ago.. and it's funny how as you age, you have fewer interactions with them at all.. but years ago I was put in handcuffs and searched with a dog, because I had some grape White Owls in tubes. I was detained for paraphernalia.. then released after the dog failed to find my stash. :ROFLMAO:

Yes, that's a joke.. about the stash.
one time I had a cop find my stash and then shrug his shoulders. Seriously I have this weird effect of being able to get away with things.

Agreed with pretty much everyone here. I'm not at all anti-police by any means, but there are too many bad cops out there to just automatically trust them all.

All that I can add to the conversation is don't let the cops search your vehicle, person, house, etc. without a warrant. If they ask, tell them no, and if they proceed anyway, make it clear that you object, and the only reason worth stating is that you have a constitutional right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures (because they will ask and poke and prod if you don't consent to a search). You stand to gain nothing by cooperating. Conversely, the only reason they are asking is because they think they can build some kind of a case against you, but they don't have enough information to get a warrant. If you let them go ahead, there could be a crooked one in the bunch who lies in a report, falsifies evidence, plants evidence, etc. Basically, you stand to gain nothing, but stand to lose a lot.

That's all very true.. Unfortunately without a lawyer to come quick.. Where I live they'll search your car, or you'll go to jail.. probably for obstructing justice, or preventing an investigation charge. Those charges would likely be dropped after they've stripped your clothes off, given you an orange suit and then instantly released you. That being said, I'm glad we have guys like you who care about the law.. Thank you for the difference you make. But if guys like me want to drive away without a total disaster of a situation, we basically have to comply.

I don't have hard feelings for the police.. But in another life, I had a few unjust encounters with those guys.

Same. I mean, they never found a stash, but I've rarely gotten pulled over and when I have been, drove away with a warning. Talked myself out of a few minor in possession of alcohol tickets as well. Don't know what I'm projecting, but it's something that tells them to tell me to get lost and don't do it again.

My two favorite police interactions where the snuff bullet incident. I had a snuff bottle for snuff and was using it. It looks really not good though. This cop passes me and just shook his head at me and kept going. The other was the time they told me to put my hands on my head and turn around slowly and then got the most embarrassed look on their faces, that's when they apologized and said wrong guy.

I was once instructed by a wise man that police officers come and clean up the messes. The saying, where is a cop when you need one comes to mind but when you truly do need one they are most often a welcome sight. They do tend to be handy when you are less than lawful too, funny how that works.

Shit's so far right here where I live they KNOW you aren't smoking anything other than tobacco if you are out in public. I went to a new brewery here in town the other day and asked if a person could smoke in the outdoor seating area, the owner looked at me funny and said of course.

There isn't enough money on the planet to pay a sane person to do what they do so you have to take that into consideration. Honestly I can't imagine the homes and circumstances they are required to enter/interact with as a requirement of the job. Same with first responders. I guess I'm lucky to live where the officer would probably rather sit down and join me for a smoke verses the places that require the more militarized forces or where they would be suspicious of pipe tobacco. Seriously, who want's that job??? More than likely a dude who's trip'n? Maybe.

I shared a pipe with my ex-neighbor now retired officer on more than one occasion, he was a "normal" person other than he couldn't handle nicotine. I think he moved to Florida and was going to provide security at a weed store.
