I get a cigar-like taste from John Bull; it comes in a pouch and is quite affordable. They also sell John Bull cigars.

There is only one blend in your list of four in your post above this that I think is worthy of more than 3 stars, and I won’t say which one. ?. But there is a lot of wisdom in the post I quoted. There are good blends out there that have a modest amount of cigar leaf as a condiment, like Peretti Cuban, but they don’t usually have a cigar forward taste, at least to me.

I don't blame you at all for not having the taste buds good enough to appreciate all my blends. :)

Cigars are my first love, but I've been piping for 5 years. I've never found a blend that gave me the satisfaction of a cigar when I want big bold flavor.

The pipe has its place, but it's a different thing that needs to be appreciated for what it is.

That's my two cents.

When I was smoking cigars and pipes at the same time, the cigars would mask the best flavors of my pipe tobacco. Once I quit the cigars for a few weeks my pipe tobacco was so much better I ditched the cigars and did not ever looked back. I find the complexity of pipe tobacco to be superior to a cigar.

I was smoking tons of great Cubans, Fuente's Padrons, Davidoffs , Ashton Cabinets, Diamond Crowns and bunches of Trinidad Fundores

I absolutely relate to this. Cigars are for when I don't want to tease flavors out.

Pipes are way more nuanced, and can fit all types of cravings I have.

Have your tried any of the ones I mentioned? I used to help run the largest cigar club in Chicago and have tried a lot of different cigars and have found the GH&Co Brown ropes or Dark Birds Eye, Dark Plug to be in the heavy maduro range though not quiet as sharp (I admittedly don't care for cigars as much as pipe tobacco.). If you haven't tried them, I think you'd really appreciate them, especially with a 1/8 of latakia tossed in.

I haven't yet, I'll put those on the list. What kind of cigars do usually enjoy?

My favorites at the time were Royal Jamaican's Special Reserve before the actual Jamaican factory was destroyed. I also liked Ashton and Griffon Maduro.
Royal Jamaican was my favorite as well.
When I smoked cigars, I got a couple decent sticks a week along with my weeks supply of Marsh Wheeling.

My usual advice, but maybe worthwhile: A pipe bowl of blend and a cigar are inherently different, so don't go looking for one in the other. A cigar is a crafted smoke, an experience designed by the maker for your enjoyment. It's put together to deliver a set experience and often does so. A pipe bowl starts with a given blend, a single leaf, or a mix of your own formulation, packed by you, lit by you, tamped by you, and so partly designed by you in every case. You don't just smoke it, you do it. I like cigar leaf smoked neat, or mixed in with a single leaf or blend to give a special flavor, but it has little to do with a cigar; it doesn't taste like it, doesn't smoke like, just imparts a bit of cigar scent like a memory. Smoking a cigar is like going to a sit-down restaurant and experiencing the meal they present. Smoking a pipe it is like cooking for yourself, delicious as you make it, with a little help from the blender who provides the ingredients.
