My usual advice, but maybe worthwhile: A pipe bowl of blend and a cigar are inherently different, so don't go looking for one in the other. A cigar is a crafted smoke, an experience designed by the maker for your enjoyment. It's put together to deliver a set experience and often does so. A pipe bowl starts with a given blend, a single leaf, or a mix of your own formulation, packed by you, lit by you, tamped by you, and so partly designed by you in every case. You don't just smoke it, you do it. I like cigar leaf smoked neat, or mixed in with a single leaf or blend to give a special flavor, but it has little to do with a cigar; it doesn't taste like it, doesn't smoke like, just imparts a bit of cigar scent like a memory. Smoking a cigar is like going to a sit-down restaurant and experiencing the meal they present. Smoking a pipe it is like cooking for yourself, delicious as you make it, with a little help from the blender who provides the ingredients.

Well said! I think the experience is reflected in the price of premium cigars relative to a tin of pipe tobacco.
