I do smoke in my shop, office and home but I do not chain smoke so the lingering smell is nonexistant for the most part.
Back when I smoked cigars primarily, the stale smell lingered so bad that I could smell it when I opened the storm door to the shop.
I did not smoke cigars in the house.
So, I get it. The smell of some tobaccos and the lingering effects can sometimes be overwhelming to nonsmokers.
I have experienced the same lingering unpleasant smells on some others while out and about.
So, that being said I am very conscientious of others when, on the rare occasion, I smoke in public.
I also make it a point to not smoke during the day if I have meetings or need to go meet with customers until I am finished with meeting others during the day.
I feel like we do a disservice to our hobby if we don't think of others first when deciding to smoke in public.
If the situation allows (outdoor concerts, party's where others are smoking etc) I will partake but I am still careful and conscientious of my smoke draft towards nonsmokers.

It's the same here in Malaysia. Government has restricted the law that no smoking indoor. Except some pubs and bar. Many restaurants, bistros and cafes don't have smoking area anymore. So far, i don't bring my pipe outside to smoke, I only smoke when I'm at home. Outside, I smoke cigarette (iQos). And yet, we have to come out of the restaurant or the cafe to smoke.

I only smoke outside at home, either in the backyard or my smoking room/porch. I wouldn't smoke anywhere in public...it's more stuff to carry with me when I get out of the car. I don't bring my phone into restaurants, I don't need it. My wallet, keys and glasses, that's it. I don't want to carry around a pipe, tobacco, tamper, matches/lighter and I don't think my wife would appreciate me putting all my stuff in her purse.

Buncha sheeple rule followers. Ha ha. Do what you want.
Most people carry a gun because they know that cops won't respond right away in there is ever a need for one. But, yet... you're gonna follow a stupid smoking rule because you think a cop is going to just magically appear when you light up?
It is most likely because I always dress nice and I am a very considerate person, but I get away with smoking almost everywhere I go. It may be different for a 30something wearing a shabby tshirt and torn blue jeans and a dirty baseball cap. Wise lifestyle choices will open more doors than you'll know.

I have always thought that as long as smoking is legal and tobacco is taxed it should be up to bar owners if they want to allow smoking. Employees can decide if they want to work in a smoking environment and patrons can decide if they want to drink in one.
That said - I would almost never end up going to a smoking establishment as virtually none of my friends smoke or would want to spend time in a smoke filled bar.
I’ve become accustomed to smoking outside and don’t really mind doing so but if I’m honest I really enjoyed being able to smoke while drinking and watching a band at my local “back in the day”.

<< Snipped bits out >>. With that in mind, how many of you would smoke inside if given the chance, and how many of you think that the newer laws prohibiting smoking indoors and in public places outside in the US and other parts of the world should be followed?
I like smoking anywhere and everywhere, but I don't do it in my house, nor elsewhere it's prohibited.

To be honest, I agree very much with your philosophy. This memory came to my mind. These places are the ones I miss so much. It is one of the funniest and most endearing series I ever saw.987f1fa10d01277178f410949251b8ef.jpg
