Absolutely not. If it became a requirement I'd have my account deleted. If someone wishes to share they can but not everyone doesI just wish people would put their location..even generally…even country. It shold be required from a world wide site.
Regarding VPN, is Nord the exception? I get a your-address-is-banned message whenever I try to get on this site through my Nord.In case there is anyone concerned about these features, please allow me to explain.
Here's what you can possibly see on a member's profile page.
1. Number of posts they've made.
2. Reaction score.
3. Date they joined.
4. Last seen (what they were last viewing in the forums.)
5. Latest activity. (Their last posts, replies, or reactions.)
6. Birthday (If they filled it out)
7. Website (If they have one and filled this out.)
8. Location (If they filled it out.)
9. About - a little bio IF they filled it out.)
10. Signature
Setting everything to "Nobody" does not make you anonymous. Your username is still visible, so if UserXYZ gives crap info, you will still know it is UserXYZ you might want to ignore, or report.
Regarding VPNs:
Some people use VPNs to be anonymous and do bad things - like spammers signing up and spamming the site. I could site wide block usage of VPNs. However, others legitimately use VPNs for privacy, and some employers require that their employees use a VPN when they go online.
I'm sure nobody would dare be in the forums during their work hours, but just in case I'll leave the site open to them.
There are some funny posts here about VPNs, but I would appreciate it if no one used it to mess around, even if they're trying to be funny. It IS actually against the rules of the site to have more than one account. It is easy to ban an account no matter which IP address it uses or is assigned by the VPN. Fictional member, UserXYZ can be blocked at the member level no matter which ip their VPN assigns.
I put Emberland.Making location a requirement wouldn't do any good - if someone doesn't want to share, they'd put in Antarctica or a freaking private island in the middle of the Pacific.
Oh, The Norge….Regarding VPN, is Nord the exception? I get a your-address-is-banned message whenever I try to get on this site through my Nord.
I am not knowing!
I did and my reply stands. Some come here for general information and neither care where others live nor wish to share that information of themselves. If you're going to reply to someone include a tag or a quote. If you are going to quote someone you should capture the essence of their message.
It's a coincidence that the Nord is probably using an ip that has been banned that was previously used by a spammer.Regarding VPN, is Nord the exception? I get a your-address-is-banned message whenever I try to get on this site through my Nord.
Say that @mingc is a spammer without saying that mingc is a spammer. It's a coincidence that the Nord is probably using an ip that has been banned that was previously used by a spammer.
A quick perusal of past posts will tell what state you live in.Absolutely not. If it became a requirement I'd have my account deleted. If someone wishes to share they can but not everyone does
Yeah, but you'd have to work for it and the majority of posts make my location irrelevant.A quick perusal of past posts will tell what state you live in.
