I am not aware that BAT owns any substantial holdings in STG. Do you have a cite for that?
In 2007/08 BAT and STG did a swap, where BAT acquired STG's snus and cigarette operations and STG acquired BAT's pipe tobacco operations. Aside from that little ballet, and the polite hand holding that followed including STG buying BAT's cigarette and RYO business in Norway in 2009, the two companies remain entirely separate entities, to the best of my knowledge.

If I were considering buying one of Dunhill's very expensive pipes (I'm not), reading about this inscrutable shell game would disabuse me of the notion.

"Unfortunately, they picked a number of very inept people to run the feature division and they lost enormous amounts of money on the enterprise. The feature division closed shop. Then Warners managed to lose other top creatives and the other animation divisions began to fail. A facility intended to house a thousand working artists was down to a handful before Warners pulled the plug on their Sherman Oaks facility and move the survivors to a bunch of trailers on the Ranch property. For a while, Warner animation was completely off the air.

Now animation is booming again and Warners has leased office space, but they're not building any more palaces. Lesson learned."
If they produced the Animaniacs cartoons, then it was totally worth it!

All of this stated:
MM965 is hands down my favorite pipe tobacco. I have had mixes by other companies that are good, but never have I found one that scratched the itch the way 965 does. Maybe it's because 965 is the first non-OTC-aro I tried, maybe it's complete shit and I don't know any better. I'm not sure, but it's my favorite. I smoke other mixes, and enjoy them, but always come back to my dark, full flavored master 965. One day it may not be here, but until then I can stock up and complain. It's my right, as someone that paid for internet service and made a profile on this forum.

MM965 is totally lovely. It reminds of OJK, but as an English.
The Dunhill blends are great, even the ones that are not calibrated to my personal needs. I can respect them for what they are.

I really enjoy Dunhill blends, especially the classics -- Nightcap, 965, Early Morning, London Mixture, and others. Right now with such an incredible selection of blends, I would miss them but I would hardly be at a loss. I think if other blends begin to disappear, then I might long for the old Dunhill brands. Solely in terms of variety and selection of blends, I feel pretty sure, the past five or six years have been absolutely the golden age. Anyone with a good selection of blends on hand and continuing access to some selection otherwise, can coast for many years on what you have, and mixing with continuing blends, especially if you are a moderate smoker. I wouldn't be happy, but I could go with pouch and tub tobacco if that was all that was available.

I'm limited in my choices of tobacco, since I can't smoke burley. When I smoke burley, my mouth burns and the roof my mouth swells. It also makes me feel ill and gives me a headache. I mainly smoke English mixes.

The only Dunhill in my rotation at this point in time is London Mixture. It is normally my first bowl of the morning, accompanying my first two cups of coffee. When it is no longer available, I will diligently search for a replacement. I have sampled a couple of the McLelland Oriental blends, but neither rung my chimes. Worst-case scenario is that it will be fondly remembered, as Across the Pond is now, and something else will have to do first thing in the morning.

@woodsroad, I am digging a bit here before bedtime in Denmark.
About BAT ownership in ST (now STG) all I came op with is an article in Danish from 2008. https://via.ritzau.dk/pressemeddelelse/faerch?publisherId=90406&releaseId=113198
I don't understand all that corporate Talk but the text days that BAT bought the cigarette part of ST and paid with shates in same company.
So apparantly BAT no Longer has Financial interesseret in STG.
My mistake, sorry

This thread has legs. Not everyone is fixated on Dunhill blends, but some are, and clearly many have it on their minds. I'm still suspecting a sale, just because it is a revenue stream and not likely to be improved as such by going dormant. But I'm no insider. As a brand, it may have been losing money for years, and be deeply in debt. It's like restaurants that have a thriving business but have expensive rent, over-priced suppliers, and staff hands in the till, so go out of business while serving meals to crowds with long lines waiting. I'm still thinking, we'll hear about Dunhill pipe tobacco being bought and continued by someone, who might or might not maintain the blends and their quality.
