I am pretty sure all respondents realize it's an error, and lack of editing.

I sure hope so, but a typo of what? Even if they move the decimal point over that's still close to three times what other on line stores charge. They're a cigar store and clearly pipes aren't their thing. Maybe they're offering a few pipe related products to their otherwise cigar smoking clientele while also making them suffer for the disloyalty of smoking a pipe rather than a cigar.

Just checked, BJ Long Boxes come with 48 bundles of 40 cleaners.

To be accurate, it says "1 bundle pack with 48 cleaners". It's probably some kind of error, unless taxes on pipe cleaners went way the hell up.

I didn't say typo, as it's just a flat out error! No editing/error checking. Just a few words left out, as it's 48 bundles of 40 count. I haven't done the math, but suspect it's a favorable move.....

There is no error.

Search Amazon for any given item. That item is available from a particular vendor, or related groups of vendors, at multiple price points.

I may sell less bundles of pipe cleaners at $50 than I would at $5, but if I sell only 1 at that price point it's worth it from a seller's perspective.

You'd sell fewer pipe cleaners at $50, as in none, if the going rate is near $5.00.

Premium pricing theory doesn't work so well for fungible items.
