What size is that? Is it solid or hollow? I almost wonder if you could use it with wet paper to create an embossed image.

It is solidly attached to the top of a "typical" tin lid over the bottom circular container. There are a couple of felt-padded posts on the inside of the lid where it's attached.

My best guess is that it's pewter attached to the tin lid but I'm not sure.

Don't have any other pictures with me at the moment.

and a rocking horse next to the doll. Nice piece. Personally, I wouldn't polish it. I like the aged/patina look.

Unlike some of you at least I've got the correct theme...

Looks like he's got a doll, and definitely a pipe.

Found this last week for a few bucks at a donation place. It looked pretty much like it does now, although I tried to use some toothpaste and then some metal polish to clean it up - both with an old soft toothbrush. I didn't really have much success.

I think it may be pewter on top? But I don't know. Tin is solid and lid fits nicely, couldn't resist.

Anyone with a better idea of how to polish up Santa?

That Santa looked familiar to me. I thought it was the same Santa as on the Christmas Cheer lid, but I guess not



But it looks like an engraving of this old picture, which is everywhere. I have an old copy of The Night Before Christmas with it on the cover.

How about painting it.
You know, like "painting with numbers".
His suit is red, the holly berrys are red, white beard and eye-brows, etc.
I guess it would take a bit of time and patience, but would look pretty cool, I think.
And a green background, gotta be green.
