Last year was my first foray into SS and I barely gave over the minimum rec's, as I didn't think of searching for threads of previous years to see how things played out. After seeing the generosity last year, I determined that upping my giving was in order; so this year I gave a little above and beyond, and was pleased to do so.
Well, I'm glad I did, because my not-so-secret match went even "abover & beyonder" than I did.
The Picayune & Escudo are from 2017, The Capstan & OGS are from 2018. The others seem to have some time in the tin as well. I haven't searched to learn about the cigar yet, but it will live in the humidor it's pictured on until the day of it's demise; which will likely come sooner, rather than later. It's a StillWell English No 27.
I'm thinking that I'll begin with the Picayune (even though it's discontinued) unless I get recommendations for an ideal # of years - at 5 I would think it's likely to be as good as it will get.
Did I mention that 5 (yep, 5!) of these are new to me?
Oh, and I waited nearly 2 seconds before quick-drawing my pocket knife and gutting the package the goodies came in when I saw it on the counter today.
Even my wife (as much as she dislikes(d?) smoke smell) was excited for me, and is always intrigued by the tin artwork. She has observed the pleasure that smoking my pipe brings to me and is becoming appreciative of my time doing so.
Tobacco porn is offered below.
