Dutch team had troubles with qualifying for the latest EC / WC championships. The last generation was quite golden with van der vaart, sneijder, robben (played at Real Madrid and other top teams), Van Persie (Arsenal and ManU), van bronckhorst and the De Boer Twins (played at Barcelona, Ronald De Boer went to the MLS Finals with Atlanta as a coach), the generation now in strikers is sub par allthough they play at big clubs. The backfield is great, I think you can play with 3 defenders (Van Dyck @ Liverpool, De Vrij @ Inter Milan and De Ligt @ Juventus Torino) and 2 "wingbacks" which are also getting better that can push more from midfield.
