Somewhere out there somebody (probably at random) is getting number 221 - they better appreciate it! And 4 would be a good one as well.
Based on all the rusticated and regular sandblasts that are still sitting there I think you have a good point - the smooth versions and the PSB seemed to be the most popular and maybe most likely to be desired. You might keep watching SP eu - no announcement I can find beyond in an article that suggested 4 a.m. Central here but it had the GMT listed. That site was supposed to be another option.Sorry Jim, I won't be able to "share" a bowl of 515 with you, in my Heritage 4AB, because no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't secure one. I think it was very shortsighted of Peterson to make so few of the Heritage, the one Sherlockians would prefer. I waited, along with you, for this reissue, and am bummed I can't be part of the party. C'est la vie!
Glad you found one! Thanks to Urban Briar and Jim, I was able to score a Heritage!
Jim suggested SPUK and Urban said he saw one on ebay. The ebay pipe was quite a bargain, so I went with that one.
Soon, I'll be puffing, ala Rathbone and Jim Amash, Wilke 515 in my Heritage 4AB. Thanks guys, you are true friends.
I absolutely love this community!
Part of 221B - Sherlock's address on Baker Street. If they wanted to be mean they'd have made 221/500 with a little "B" by the number - would have been a nice surprise for someone and I suppose anguish for many. I couldn't come up with too many numbers other than that and 4, for Sign of the Four, that I could relate to any of the novels or stories. What's the significance of 221?
What finish was the no. 221? My bet, based on the number run was either sandblast or rusticated?Glad you found one!
Strangely, I woke up a couple of minutes after 4 a.m. so what the heck, got on the SP eu site and . . . . 221 was staring at me and as quickly as I could try and put in my cart it was gone, lol! Really didn't expect to see it, so now it can be the one that got away. Fate wakes me up to frustrate me, haha. I decided I could use another Sherlock Holmes tamper so picked up a rusticated 4AB . . . so now if I have a Holmesian three pipe problem I really have three pipes!
Bad news, there was no way I'd get back to sleep so now watching The Scarlet Claw to pass the time through my haze of three or so hours of sleep until the wife wakes up and I'll soothe her further quizzing about all this Sherlock pipe interest by making her a mocha (usually reserved for the weekends or days off, otherwise she makes due with my regular coffee as her base) and surprising her with the news I found a young guy who will put some Xmas lights on the roofline on the front of the house tomorrow - recriminations avoided (until the packages start arriving!).
Until HawkeyeLinus replied, had no clue. Have never read nor followed Doyle's work.Good one Embers

I think it was a sandblast, but not sure if regular or PSB - eyes were blurry, phone screen was bright and I'd been awake for about 30 seconds, lol! What finish was the no. 221? My bet, based on the number run was either sandblast or rusticated?
I picked up #158 Sandblast (PSB's were available on both sites at midnight, when I logged on).
Down to 12 regular sandblasts on SP US (And 21 total) and six total on SP EU
