That's why I cut the IMP in half. The preliminary coloring was just discolored wax. I brought up this new idea just to see if internal coloring could be forced. And rims do darken.Someone just needs to cut an old colored meer in half and get it over with.
Everyone is sure that briar is dense enough to never transfer anything to from interior to exterior, and everyone is also sure that meer is not dense enough to prevent transference.
So if liquids/semi solids are able to jump through meer, why is my hand never wet and black after I smoke one for a couple hours?
This is solid pipe science stuff I fully approve of.
That would be cheating!
Who's to say that the old ones weren't colored that way?I think proper cheating would be to make some kind of tobacco tea/juice, fill up the bowl, and let it set for a day or several, a la the salt-and-alcohol treatment.
3 Meers that are somewhat show to color. But good to smoke. And even if they were, one might not color at all, and one might turn black after time. Aren't you the one with the meer that refuses to color?
Omg this is brilliant.....who's got an empty jar???There was a time (before mine) that tobacconists used to put a meer in a large sealed glass jar and customers would open the jar and blow smoke in all day - it was reported to color the meer. There was also a time (again, before mine) that the wealthy were reported to hire people to smoke and color meers for them.

Ever clean nicotine buildup off of windows? Those pipes done that way are terribly sticky. If you want to color them externally, hit then with air from a hairdryer. Almost immediately brown.Omg this is brilliant.....who's got an empty jar???

Did it return to normal when it cooled?
Nope.Did it return to normal when it cooled?
The ones Simon has show on here from a century ago were fine. No issues with mine using washers.back to the coin issue. Will the metal expand at all due to the heat? I know it can get pretty hot in the chamber, but not sure if the washer/coin would get hot enough to expand and potentially cause cracks.
I'll take a picture later today, but I've only ran through 20 bowls or something like that, so it hasn't impressively caked up, yetGot any cake to share, @TheWhale13 ?
This one is just starting to. Trying a stainless washer with this one.Got any cake to share, @TheWhale13 ?
