There are lots of different ways to be a man.....

Hunt a deer with nothing but a pointy stick

Drop a small block 305 into your riding lawnmower

Shooting yourself with small caliber bullets to build an immunity to large caliber bullets

Buying feminine products in your own town

Holding your wife's purse while she's shopping

Riding a bull to work

Shooting pool with your own balls

Alligator olive oil wrestling

Walking a Pomeranian named princess in the day light

Singing Broadway show tunes on karaoke night at a biker bar
The bottom line is there are many things that can make a man "manly". Just because some doesn't do all of them doesn't make him any less manly then the next man. Back in the day it was said the John Wayne and Steve McQueen meet once and instantly disliked the other for who they were but would anyone argue that either was "Un-Manly"?

necron - you really need to chill and understand that sometimes the folks on here will want to bust your balls with a little good-natured ribbing.
I harken back to our delightful interaction in this little thread: http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/pipes-is-politics
Just relax and don't assume just because someone cracks a joke that they are somehow insulting you.

Defargin, I said that I do hope it is a mistake, and indeed you said it is. That is good enough for me. Thanks for clarifying. No offense given none taken. Again thanks for responding.

Too rsuninv,

I assure you guys that I take measures to spell your "names" correctly here. You choose them or they were given to you for a reason. I misspelled Monty by using an e rather than a y one time so I messaged him an apology.

I may misspell many words here but I promise not to misuse any of your names in as much as I will put forth effort not to.

I do apologize if it seemed I was being overly offended. I simply wanted an answer and gave explanation why I wanted an answer. He gave one and that's good enough. He typed it up and didn't look over it before posted.

Good point, Peckinpahhombre.
I brought this subject up to some women and let them read this thread. Their responses were funny.
Worldy Wonder Douce is too long I would rather learn to use the name you have chosen. It means something, and you choose it for a reason. Who am I to decide it should be something else.

I found this thread great! A few sarcastic responses mixed in among the sincere responses did indeed provide a subtle form of humor for the evening! Overall, I find the topic itself interesting. I think that 'manliness' is truly subjective - what one person considers a trait of manliness may be completely different from that of another person. For example, I don't know squat about working on cars - and I'll be the first to admit that (although I am able to change spare tires and other minimal tasks, lol). Does that make me less of a man? Perhaps to some - but not to me. I can grow a solid beard and am only 25 - does that make me more manly that my friends who can't? Not in my opinion. The traits or skills that constitute manliness will be different for everyone! It's subjectively based in your own upbringing and experiences. Just my .02.
On a side note, if you get irritated by this type of discussion, why not simply ignore it? Responding to a thread you do not like or disagree with simply to say how annoyed you are with the topic only manages to bump that thread/topic back to the top of discussion boards. Overall, I enjoyed it :)
