A few minutes ago I nodded off in a recliner and had a dream where I went into a coma, woke after 20 years, and (naturally) the first thing I wanted to know was the state of PipeWorld. Was tobacco still legal? What were the latest designs? Had any of the Young Lion US carvers gone on to become world famous?
So, (also naturally) I signed onto PM.com. Amazingly, my password still worked.
The top thread on the forum aggregator page? This one. It was over 14000 pages long, with 192,716 comments. And the issue still wasn't resolved.
Then I woke from the nightm--- er, dream, and, well, here I am telling you about it.
Really. That just now happened. Honest.

Yes Peck, the friends and family option offers no recourse in the event of fraud.
That was not my experience with Paypal, from another forum, where I bought a pipe case using "Friends & Family" but never received the cabinet. BUT, you better have your documentation in order. In my case, Paypal froze his account until they rec'd confirmation that the item was received.
Pecks comments also made me rethink my practice of asking for the "Friends & Family" rate. Moving forward, I will let it up to the buyer on how they want to pay. Asking price for the "Friends & Family" rate or the standard method plus 3% if they chose. This lets buyers make the decision, based on their trust factor.
I'll let this thread stay open a bit longer, but I'm not sure how much more there is to gained as it seems to be generating more ill-will than good.

No need for anyone to get their knickers in a twist. I was under the impression we were having a cordial discussion here. It would seem I have been misled.
I want a refund.
Just kidding.

It's been an interesting thread. First and foremost, people are getting their money back.
There's been some interesting back and forth on rushing to judgement and mob psychology.
PayPal policies and legal rights got discussed.
Eventually humor sneaked in.
Knickers got twisted, or panties got bunched.
Strangeness prevails.
This thread has pretty well run its course.

John Sure we will do 8. You want just the Penzance correct?
At this point it's beating a dead horse, but I have a fascination with things like that, but I find it strange how the word "we" is used. I hope you stick around Nate. There was also mention of a photo that made it sound as though masspiper had cholesterol problems, but I found his photobucket account and could only see pictures of tobacco, which adds to my wonder of what's actually going on here.

I've been holding my outrage in check, because in my experience the moment I post something condemning the guy, someone will report that the guy was held captive along with a whole troop of Brownie Scouts by terrorist, and the guys has single-handedly kept those girls alive with his own breastmilk, in which he repeatedly jumped on top of grenades that were periodically tossed into the 30 foot well keeping every one of those girls alive. So...

Is it too late to jump in here and get all outraged and stuff?
On reflection I suppose I could be outraged. After all, my purchase wasn't considered deserving of being ripped off as he'd evidently over committed there as well. Instead, he just returned my money, saying that if the shipment showed up he trusted me to return the refund.
Really, why wasn't my money just as deserving of being stolen as anyone else's?
