Thanks to Dochudson, I made the switch to straight-razors a couple of months back and will not go back to carts. Sure, it takes me a long time to shave now - but I enjoy the ritual aspect. There is something relaxing about the whole process - the same sort of pleasure that I take from maintaining my pipes. I have also found that my skin began to improve drastically after a couple of days; no more ingrown hairs, bumps or crazy irritation to contend with, even in the trouble areas around my Adam's Apple. My wife and kids also seem to appreciate that my stubble seems softer - whether thats due to the products (pre-shave creams etc.) or to the razor I can't say, but it no longer feels like I'm sporting a face-full of 1000 grit sandpaper by dinner.
It's also not nearly as difficult as one would expect. More care has to be taken than when shaving with an electric or a cart certainly, but it isn't any more difficult then say, smoking a pipe. Just take your time, don't move the blade laterally, and if it looks or feels wrong stop.
