I guess I’d probably say I don’t have a preference, but nearly all my pipes are straight or slightly bent, so there you have it.

Practically speaking, my one fully bent pipe is my easiest clencher, but I also like a lightweight straight billiard for clenching as well.

Like olklofri I found lighting a bent very awkward. Also, despite smoking for 16 years, I had endless problems keeping the draw open, and with a straight you can always get a cleaner into the bowl. All that nonsense about bending the tip of the cleaner and giving it a twist never worked for me. And aesthetically it's hard to beat the austere beauty of a straight line.
