Straight or Bent?

So I have a small pipe collection and more on the way. Do you like a straight or bent and why

I've always preferred bent because the pipe is out of the line of sight.

Straight up to 1/4 bend. Just more comfortable to me, easier to clean, and with cheaper pipes often better drilling. Also just like them better aesthetically. Also would much rather have a pipe in my line of sight than smoke in my face all the time.

I like both, but a half bent billiard is my favorite for everyday clenching.

I prefer bents but I've lately (painfully) realised that full bents are not for me: they force me to angle them upwards too much in order to see the bowl when lighting it and my tongue gets the full blast of hot smoke. ?

I have 2 straight one full BENT Sherlock style and one legend bent I go back and forth on which I like

Agreed - but they clinch effortlessly...

Straight or slight bend and trad style. I just don't like something hanging down from my mouth. Reminds me of an old man drooling for some reason.

I have mostly straights, but the bents I have just called out to me when I bought them. I really don't have any problems clenching either type.

I guess I’d probably say I don’t have a preference, but nearly all my pipes are straight or slightly bent, so there you have it.

Practically speaking, my one fully bent pipe is my easiest clencher, but I also like a lightweight straight billiard for clenching as well.

I like both but my preference is an 1/8 to a 1/4 bend. I find a pipe with a slight bend the most comfortable to clench.

Like olklofri I found lighting a bent very awkward. Also, despite smoking for 16 years, I had endless problems keeping the draw open, and with a straight you can always get a cleaner into the bowl. All that nonsense about bending the tip of the cleaner and giving it a twist never worked for me. And aesthetically it's hard to beat the austere beauty of a straight line.
