When I go to their website, I see this...
But, whatever

Ok, I understand that the kids don't have an interest in running the company, but why on earth would then not want their name associated with a brand that has achieved what every company aspires to, within their niche or industry? That is, the premiere brand of all within that industry? Not saying that there are not pipes that may be better, etc., just that the name has achieved that pinnacle.
I'm sure some lawyer is advising them to get completely away from it.....

I said that the MacBaren kids didn't mind their name associated with the company. It was the Dunhill corporation that objected to the "brand" name being used by tobacco. We've had hundreds of threads about this. The Dunhill kids, if there are any, are moot, since it incorporated. And, the Dunhill corporation a fashion industry that no longer wants ties to tobacco. Check out one of the many many many threads we've had about this.

As long as the website maintains the name I. The link and references them as Dunhill pipes, it is what it is. Dunhill Pipes / Alfred Dunhill's The White Spot - https://dunhillpipes.com/

That is not actually an official Dunhill company web site. It is just a domain name that was registered by the original owners of CupOJoes. They did a big business selling Dunhill pipes on their site for years. When they sold their shop, that web site went with it. Dunhill the company actually does no marketing for their pipes at all.

A little different. Whereas, MacBaren's kids, just don't seem to want the business, but want the money. They didn't seem to mind their name on tobacco products. The Dunhill corporation (not family) , did not want the money, nor the association with tobacco in any way. It probably pisses them off still when we call the pipes, Dunhills.
Actually, it was Mary Dunhill who had the tobacco business spun off, becoming part of BAT, in which Dunhill had an interest. And the family moved to have their name no longer associated with pipes or tobaccos, except for Dunhill cigarettes.
In a way, they were returning to the core business, which was fancy goods, before Alfred opened up the tobacco and pipe business.

Ok, got it. I had purposely stayed out of this marathon thread until just a few posts back.

Going back to watching the mushrooms grow...........

I wondered about that.

Dunhill still sells cigarettes.

And Mac Baren is not the family's name. They are not Danish Scots!

Dunhill still has "it's name" on cigarettes. Seems like I remember someone digging up that the cigarettes were a totally separate company, out of the control of the fashion corporation. There are many threads on this subject if one would wish to dig through that stuff.

There are Mac's Mc's and O's all over the world. My grandmother was a McAllister whose family was from Germany. But, sure... thanks.

Just bought plenty of Mac Baren Old Dark Fired, Balkan blend, and White Knight a few months ago when things just got started with them. Also, grabbed a bunch of Peretti’s stuff (Sutliff), but their tins don’t keep too well so not too many. I need to grab some Navy Flake and maybe some Plum Pudding I haven’t had in years. Thought I may have over done myself for a second…but it doesn’t look like it.

The Dunhill brand has not been connected to pipes since 2011. That's why they changed the name to Alfred Dunhill's White Spot.
Right. My point was so long as websites selling them refer to them as Dunhill pipes there will be confusion and it is what it is. To that extent the Dunhill name is still associated with the pipe.
