Did not read the preceding 379 posts on this matter, but is there any possibility that another company will pick up some of the favorite MacBaren blends and start producing them? Like Peterson did with some of the Dunhill classics.
STG will most likely continue to produce the top selling Mac Baren products, and market them under the Mac Baren name.

Irish Flake and Rattrays Stirling are approximately 20% stronger than ODF, You may want to try S&G 1792 Flakes thats strong one too but a tad mellower in taste thanks to tonka bean topping
Hmm, if it's only about 20% stronger in nicotine then I can perhaps give Irish Flake a go. Sometimes I can smoke an entire bowl of ODF and barely feel the buzz, but some other instances it really hits me.

This thread has lasted 20 pages and as some have pointed out, not much has been gleaned other than what was shared on page one.

At of caution, I have ordered some tobacco essential to a few of the blends I make for myself. My guess is that STG would most likely alter and change many of the blends we live anyway even if the factories were not closed - and even if STG wasn’t a factor, changing economies in the tobacco industry might require those blends to change just because leaf, processing, and other factors that determine blend quality are all changing anyway. It might be wise to pause this thread until more is known - otherwise it’s just a lot of noise. Or not.

I think shutting down any bulk producer that many blend houses and shops use as their primary mixers would be pretty dumb. Fingers crossed this won’t be an extinction level event.

I know many of you don't smoke cigarettes, some do, but even the cigarette market suffers.

A carton of the Camels I smoke (Menthol Wides) is now $102-something, and not long ago it was only $90, and last year it was $80. Cigarettes going up isn't just inflation or taxes, it's also a shrinking market.

Difference though is many will pay more for cigarettes, whereas if pipe tobacco raised prices instead of consolidating and shrinking, likely people would quit pipes faster than cigarette users quit cigarettes due to cost (for those that quit solely due to cost, and not for health or other reasons).

This is actually why I bought that Ropp Etudiant J15 I recently acquired...I'm trying to cut back on cigarettes (because of cost, not because I want to) and replacing with a pipe. Like in the morning when I get up and have my coffee, instead of chain smoking 4-5 cigarettes while I wake up and check the news/email/whatever, I have some burley the Ropp workhorse instead. Another option I considered for cost was going back to RYO for cigarettes, but I don't feel like figuring out what RYO or mix of RYO I would want, nor do I feel like rolling a bunch or figuring out which automated cigarette machine isn't a piece of shit.

OK, I'll bite: Why is it dumb? The elves at STG seem to think it's the cat's pajamas.
It’s pretty clear to me the upshot for STG if WCC, Country Squire, Peretti, Wilke, etc. were unable to source quality and affordable blending components. Those house blends will be off the market and not competing with STG’s other higher margin products.
