Yall are picking details as they fit your arguments. Yes, there are fewer, but the ones that exist are larger and on greater production. I live in tobacco country and I hear the talk from the farmers.Tobacco farms in Kentucky alone have dwindled from over 60,000 30 years ago to only 984 now.
Not at all, just posting statistics. The tobacco market is dying.Yall are picking details as they fit your arguments.
My family are tobacco farmers. Tobacco auctions are how I bought my house in the early '90s.I live in tobacco country and I hear the talk from the farmers.
Now that is DEVASTATING news for us forum folk! And I'm not picking on anyone in particular when I say that...I saw today that a tax has been levied on Methane production
Whew! Cancel red alert!! Sorry to have overreacted. Everything's good now.and cow farts.
See that's a more specific statement to country and industry (US and production).Unquestionably US tobacco production is in free fall. In a twenty year period:
-Number of tobacco farms down 95% (2002-2022)
-Tobacco farm acreage down 52% (2002-2022)
-Tobacco production down 46% (2003-2023)
-Tobacco product manufacturing employment down 54% (2003-2021)
-US population up 16%
Balogna......another myth. I've been retailing Dunhill tobacco products in Canada since 77. Never once have I heard that one....sheeesh....My Dad worked for the Canadian importer for all Dunhill products for 35+ years, never mentioned anything about Canuck made Dunhills, and he made alot of trips to Don Mills Rd in Toronto over those years.Bruce Weaver was a Dunhill collector. He told me there was a time when Canadian produced Dunhills were a thing as well.

Canada patent Dunhill :: Pipe Talk
While I do buy Dunhills they have to be somewhat special and this one is as it has a backstory as well. Made during WW II it has the Canadian patent and from what I was able to find out was the Canadian patented Dunhill's were made by Blatter & Blatter. Now if that isn't cool enough it has a...pipesmagazine.com
Read the thread. Sante found out they were made by Blatter and Blatter.A trademark or patent registered in Canada in no way indicates that any manufacturing was happening there.
Yeah man it’s a sad thing I know. I did say right in the beginning of my post that I heard what I thought “could be taken as good news”. I probably could have worded it better because I definitely didn’t mean to say that I thought the rumors weren’t true or that what I heard should be taken as solid evidence that proves anything. Damn it man I’m just now getting good at this glorious hobby. I don’t want to believe that all those amazing blends I haven’t tried yet will be disappearing soon. I still haven’t had the opportunity to try even one McClelland blend yet. Guess I was just trying to stay positive. You can’t stay in business in this field by telling people that there might be a problem with supply. Skip, owner if the Briary, laughed and told me that forums are full of morons when I said that McClelland was closing. His manager actually called Mary on speaker phone and told us all that they most definitely were NOT going out of business, even as we were all on here reading and interpreting Mike’s farewell letter.
Rule number one is that everyone in the business is full of shit. They have to be, if they want to make money.
That, and as I pointed out above, most B&M owners aren’t the smartest lightbulbs on the tree.
Didn't notice that two people in particular other than Sante didn't contest them?I read it already.
