I've found a number of businesses that market to you while going through the steps to solve the problem that you called about.

SP badges mean little or nothing regarding price. Whiled checking out the rep would tell me "Oh you've got thus and such badge," but knowing this didn't do much for me.

While cancelling my landline the rep said, "oh you've been with us for 23 years," as if the length of time as a customer obligated me to remain their customer.

Something like f*ck-off would seem the appropriate reply.

Here's mine.

So I just realized smoking pipes gives badges for all kinds of things. Im trying to figure out what badges exist, and if there are any benefits to obtaining them. Plus it might just be fun to see what badges everyones gathered over the years.

As for me I have none this far... Either that or I don't know where to fibd them.
The biggest benefit is to Smoking Pipes since the program keeps customers spending $$$ to earn merit badges that offer a modest benefit to the customer.

Easy solution for that one.

the world would kind of suck if we all had the same sensibilities. If I put the pipes I've owned all together or they all threw a reunion, there would be more three quarter bent billiards (though that classification doesn't sit well with me, a billiard should be straight). I don't really like having pipes I don't smoke regularly.

And I bet it works pretty well for a program that doesn't cost them much. Brick and Mortar loyalty programs work better. You know the occasional freebies and mark downs at the register. Best part of that is you don't just need to spend but you can get a discount by being entertaining.

I didn’t know I even had any until I started looking after I read this thread. The only one that shows up in an obvious, hard-to-miss fashion, is the VIP one. At least for me. ?‍♂️

Agree...It's like having a Participation Award that everyone will get at some point in the Buying experience. Got to go...it's time to answer my phone on "Extending Car Warranty" and who has not had one of these?

A more direct form of add-on selling is when you are talking to SP about a pipe that you really want, but in the course of the conversation that rare gift of prudence arises and you decline the purchase so you don't rape your checking account. So you definitely say no, but then the phone rings. Guess who? SP, trying one last time to get the money; in which case, I gave them a warm send-off.

It would be another thing if this follow-up offered $50 off the price, or how about 20%. Since you already said no, I think a non-irritating follow-up call would sweeten the deal.

That's what I do when I'm selling. This crap about gradually lowering the price extends the suffering. "Hey, this is for sale. Pay attention! You won't buy? What if I take $50 off?" They buy because you make the deal so good that they cannot refuse. Less money but a closed sale.

It's like the casino freebies for people unloading the most money. It must be annual reset. Otherwise over my long patronage, I'd have at least heard of the lesser ones. SP has been good to me in other ways, so no complaints.

You may indeed have some. I kind of had to hunt for mine to see them. The VIP one is the only one that I’ve ever seen in the course of normal shopping, or “window” shopping, as it were.

I do get discount on Peterson pipe. They are usually cheaper on SP with silver VIP badge. But most importantly, I get to see the individual pipe before purchase. Now that TP is collecting tax, if I'm buying more than $95, I stick with SP.
