I agree, they could just have a canned answer to copy and paste. I have found in the EU what we find to be typical email etiquite to be variable. Email is frequently ignored by businesses. In France its unusual to get an answer. OF coures Im also talking about a country where businesses charge you per minute (while often on hold) to talk to customer service.

Also electronic correspondence is new in comparison to many countries. It wasnt 15 years ago when almost no one had a web page. When they did the links typicically sent you in endless circles. 8-10 years ago businesses considred a Facebook page to constitiute a website.

Back to pipes...Yes, Im sure Radice is far to big and busy to do comissions. Once these companies get large it becomes inconvienient to make one pipe to ship to one place as well as an individual billing. There is probably a skeleton crew handling the routing and billing of many orders and items.

They may have protection but there is zero consumer service. Vendors are doing you a favor by selling to you. The French hate things like Amazon and imported businesses It raises the bar on customer service and also creates competition. Unless you like blowing money you have to shop very carefully here. Granted, Amazon often creates unfair competetion but competition is badly needed here.

I’m glad your pipe finally arrived!

Maybe it’s the angle of the photo, along with the swirls in the stem throwing things off, but the two dots don’t look like they’re aligned with the center of the stem. Are they straight? Or intended to be askew? Having never handled a Radice, I’m not familiar with the nuances of their markings.

Yes sometimes translations are good. Sometimes they say crazy things.
Yeah on a PM radio show Brian was talking to a guest who said that they were making a speech during their induction to the Confrerie. The honoree wrote out the speech and had a French neighbor proofread it. She was concerned about how much he said "une pipe" as is normally slang for... A certain action.

It totally does look off in the photo, but the dots are well done. It’s just the fact that the stem was not cut exactly straight down the dead center of the swirl pattern, so it’s kind of a trick of the eye.

Wow all these stunning pipes you are getting in!
I have no business buying 3 Radices in such a short span of time, if im honest. I love the couple I already had and just really got the itch. Honestly, it’s Smokingpipes’ damn fault. They had a big 20% of estate sale. That’s what started it with the blue stemmed one. I cannot be held liable for my questionable purchases.

It's 100% always the retailers fault. If they weren't selling there's no way we could buy. I curse (i.e. love) them for it!

This one I purchased from that eBay seller who props his pipes on a piece of driftwood. You know the one. The annual sales stemming from that hunk of sea wood must be about the same as the GDP of any small country! (I jest, of course).

I fell in love with the damn shank on this pipe. It’s spiral. Perfectly executed. Well balanced. Firm in hand. Stout. I love the smooth spiral contrasted with the rusticated bowl. Smokes very well. I couldn’t resist.

Pipe was made in 2019 and I bought it new in 2021. It was from a small number of pipes R.D. Field was offloading (comes with an R.D. Field stamped leather pipe pouch).

Anyway, just had to share:

Yeah that's a pretty sweet stem or sure! Seems like it's quite shiny in your and the seller's photos.

I think I've caught whatever disease @mtwaller has I'm looking at another new one while I haven't touched my latest one 😷
You guys make me feel sane. Thankfully all of these new pipes arrived at the house and were stashed away/packaging disposed of while my wife was busy with work. So basically I got away with a triple homicide. I need to chill the f*** out on buying things. Any more and it’s just seriously pushing my luck.

I'm going to start having Corti, Novelli, and the other Italian sites have packages sent to my address gift wrapped and sent from M.T. Waller. You can do the same and have it sent from Arnold O. English.
