Funny story about that stand. The carver was so disappointed with how it turned out, he threw it in free with the set.

More a novelty really, not as readily produced as meerschaum. I like mine but I'll likely not buy another.
I’d say Morta has a certain visual appeal.
It’s not a material that would be in the same category as Meerschaum. Meerschaum is a mineral, while Morta is oak. Several thousand year old mineralized oak, but none the less still hardwood. And it will char quite readily.

I'd say that interest in morta waxes and wanes.
Interest is always stirred up by members posting their mortas.
Lots are intrigued by a material that is thousands of years old.
There is always curiosity about how it smokes compared to briar and meerschaum.

I don't think morta is gonna take off like meer. For a few reasons. People don't rave about it the same way first off. You can't do the same intricate carvings either well not as easily.

I’ve only smoked maybe 5-6 bowls in it, still breaking it slowly, and smokes so cool, I really love this pipe.

My Mr. Brog bent billiard. It's not fancy, and it wasn't hundreds of dollars...but it's a big, beautiful, hunk of Morta, and it smokes sweet and smooth!
