I worked for a spell as a door-to-door salesman many years ago. usual thing, Office rang round the phone book at random booking appointments, I turned up demonstrated products (air purifiers and vacuum cleaners) and tried to sell them.

I was sent to a house once where a family of five lived. All on welfare. Parents were disabled, adult kids out of work. All of them chain-smoked cigarettes and watched TV all day.
The house was beyond description. I could barely see what I was doing because the light bulbs were so yellowed with nicotine. Every surface I touched was sticky with tar. The walls, the light switches, all the furniture. Cobwebs were black and tacky like they'd been sprayed with glue.
The demo vacuum cleaner I was using was ruined. The tools became caked with tar, the filter gummed up and the smell never left it. I think it was thrown away and they issued me a new one.
Yuck! That's why I always either smoke outside, or crack a window and run a fan in the room I'm smoking in. Ventilation is important.

Ok, I'm a little late to the party, but it's been a busy weekend.

My home office work (left) and gaming (right) pcs. That lounge chair gets more use from my dogs than it does from me.

My recessed bookcase (pipe and tobacco rack) with priceless art from my youngest.

Another bookcase with books... but starting to get a little cluttered. I really need to straighten up a bit.

And the liquor cabinet that I'm still working on.

Are air purifiers useless for smoke, if I keep a window cracked open at the same time? Ive never used one before.
I use both simultaneously when possible. Not all the smoke will escape the window, and the air purifier helps prevent smoke from clinging to the walls and yellowing them. It can also cut down on the smell. Add a decent candle to burn while smoking, and you are well on your way.

Not at all, if you look at my 1st pic of my desk, my setup is cracking the window and run the air purifier. Then, depending on what I'm doing, I'll run the exhaust fan from time to time if I feel like the room is getting smokey. That said, the window and AP freshens up my office nicely (well, fresh to me). When I smoke lat blends, I'll sometimes need a scented candle boost.

It doesn't fully eliminate the odor completely, since my middle daughter tells me all the time, "it smells so good in here."
