De Luxe 2s in the apparently ‘new’ dark finish.
Bought this one from the delightfully old fashioned tobacconist & Gentleman’s Emporium in Bedford, Harrison Simmonds.
An improvement I think, compared to the depressingly dark finish from before.

Good looking Deluxe 02 😍
I've bought a few Petes (online) from Harrison & Simmonds.
Extremely efficient and prompt service and despatch.

That's where I bought my first Rathbone (depending on timing of order vs. arrival, my first pipe) because at that time they had the one I wanted!

Dominic Simmonds has also authored a Sherlock Holmes novel and been involved in publishing collections of new Sherlock Holmes tales.

Great folks to deal with.

I recently also found out about Harrison & Simmonds. Haven't pulled the trigger on a pipe but have their eBay store saved for when I eventually buy one from them.

Matthew Simmonds penned that one, not Dominic. Adventure of the Pigtail Twist, a fun read for fans of the great detective.

Sherlock CP Iora Professor arrived finally. It’s darn pretty!View attachment 207485
Some may find this interesting. The recent pipe came stained. About a year ago I picked up an Iora spigot that came in that unsustained and bare finish. It became kind of a “workhorse” pipe and was great for road trips and I just put it to use. It started looking pretty ratty IMO as it got used but figured what the heck. I recently acquired a cool little Deluxe System 20s and I’ve kind of babied it to keep it “clean”. This morning I dug out the Iora and was surprised how the wear had “taken” and figured it was now time to put a little Obsidian oil on it (and I think oiling previously would have been a mistake, so glad I didn’t). It is stunning, IMO, and every bit as pretty as the new, stained one. The 20s will be coddled no more! Here are a couple pics. The year old Iora looked just like the 20s in March of ‘22. Looking forward to how the little one will look come next St. Patrick’s Day.
