One of my favorite shapes. Star Spangled Banner in the background? The 1 and only Peterson I have...305. Some day there will be others....maybe another 305View attachment 69381
You have a good eye!!One of my favorite shapes. Star Spangled Banner in the background?
Agree. I’m a fan of Peterson, and have several purchased over many years. It continues to baffle me that most of their draft holes are not centered and will not provide passage of a pipe cleaner unless dissembled, including the two recent ones I posted above (Cara XL90 & St. Patrick’s Days B10). This has not deterred me from the brand, and I will continue to buy them as they are great smoking pipes... BUT, it makes little sense that a company in business for over 150 years can’t master the drilling of the shank and the proper alignment of a draft hole. Conversely, I can pass a pipe cleaner through most of my Savinelli and Rossi pipes that are similar in shape and size?I resisted buying Petes for some years because of the criticisms of their quality control and other issues. I finally succumbed and these have come in the past few months :-
1st pic : Short 03; SH Lestrade; XL90
2nd pic: Short 80s: SH Squire; SH Hudson: X155
I have no complaints re: quality. The sandblasting on the Lestrade is phenomenal.
Some of the drilling is not centred and some won't pass a cleaner, but these factors are not game-breakers for me.
I'm more than happy with them.
A very Irish shape !The 1 and only Peterson I have...305. Some day there will be others....maybe another 305View attachment 69381
I can only think that that drilling high in the mortise is a deliberate attempt to create a pseudo "well" as a moisture trap.Agree. I’m a fan of Peterson, and have several purchased over many years. Lol thanks!Very nice pipe @Greenmage, suits the beard! An impressive pairing.?
The Premiers come with the chimneys (or stingers, whatever you want to call them) too? It's a very nice pipe.Just got my first system pete. A premier 302. It's a good smoker and really nice in the hand and the clench!
Damn straight. Gotta do your civic duty to keep the economy humming along.I really hadn't planned to buy any more pipes, but every time they come up with more covid stimulus money, I get sucked back in again
Apparently... I didn't think that it would, but it's a nice addition. The Premiers come with the chimneys (or stingers, whatever you want to call them) too? It's a very nice pipe.
