Probably Algeria.
Yes, but there was a little something called World War Two that tied up shipping.:)

This is the best briar I’ve ever owned on any pipe, period.

It’s so tightly grained I can’t imagine better.

I bought a new “super thermos” insulated cup yesterday and this pipe is as efficient as that. It simply does not get hot on the outside.

BTW, can anyone help me date this hallmark?

I think it’s nickel silver like a good pocket knife bolster.

Just a bit of sarcasm. All in good fun. Someone needs to invent sarcasm font.

Some information below that I have saved:

The 307 is an original Patent bent billiard-shape, shown in the 1896 catalog as shape 9. It has retained its original shape number in the De Luxe version, but was issued in the 1937 catalog as the 307 (2nd quality) / 357 (3rd quality). Since then, it has also appeared as the 9S and 9B (De Luxe), Dunmore System 78 (1978-1983), and the Classic Range 9BC (1940s-1950s) / XL90 (1980s-Present). The 9B dating from the 1940s-1960s (the De Luxe System with a tapered rather than saddle bit) is rarely seen on the estate market. There have been changes in the shape since the 1960s, all toward less “cheeking,” making earlier versions, when available, preferable to those wishing to get back to the first, classic iteration of the shape.

The pipe has a nickel band stamped with K&P next to PETERSON over the hallmarks Shamrock/Wolfhound/Tower, all on the left side. Marked PETERSON'S over SYSTEM over STANDARD on the left side of the shank and MADE IN IRELAND encircled next to 307 on the right side of the shank.

With the PSB blasts, you will find some gems for sure, but also some "Meh" blasts. I would check out the fresh PSBs on new pipe drop days. Having said that, blast beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and as long as you admire the pipe you're looking at, go for it! I love that tankard shape too, they are very nice looking pipes
Thank you. I appreciate that. I’m not too familiar with the PSB process and the line itself, only what read on Smoking Pipes. There’s a pretty deep discount on them right now.

I am slowly working toward completing a collection of Peterson SPD and Christmas pipes for each of my kids’ birth years (2014, 2017, 2020, 2023). My long-goal goal is to have a matching set of shape 106s (only one of three shapes common to all eight releases) but in the meantime, I’m just working toward finding one of each series/year.

Here’s the St. Patrick’s Day collection so far!

Top to bottom: 1998 (X105), 2014 (X105), 2020 (106), 2023 (106)
Still missing: 2017 and a 106 from 2014

I have a Pete P-Lip Poker in my near future. I am struggling between the Specialty PSB Tankard and a Silver Mounted Kildare 701. The PSB are purportedly the cream of the crop of sandblasted pipes. Gimmick?

I don’t think so, but that’s for you to decide. The PSB pipes are etched deeper and show more character or ring uniformity. I’ve seen regular blasts though that look like they could have been a PSB with a little more time in the sand box.

69 showed up yesterday and ran my first bowl through it today. This is a thinner walled shape to begin with and the blast is DEEP on this puppy. Pipe heated up quite quickly, so I'll be trying to baby this one. Hopefully some cake buildup will help with the heat. Any tips from you guys for building some cake up? I normally wipe bowl out with paper towel to avoid buildup. She's a looker though!

Beauty!

Regarding cake build up: I try to build a HARD cake, which means after the pipe has cooled, I lightly wipe the inside of the bowl down with a q tip dipped in 99% iso to clean it up and get rid of the ash. It will take much longer to build the cake up this way, but imo the cake ends up much harder and heat resistant...as always: ymmv
