I emailed Peterson and they said it was one of the briar grading stamps. But they have no further info.

I guess that makes sense, since the smooth one in the auction has a cross. The rusticated pipe I have probably wasn’t good enough to be issued smooth.

A bit disappointing they can't explain the grades but I imagine with turnover a lot of picayune history is lost ... perhaps it was "Heavenly ! or Divine !". But then it might be used more often ...

Nothing fancy, but I’m curious about this 313 System Standard.
No faux hallmarks on nickel cap, no silver solder line I can see, wide round shoulders on cap, semi-forked “P” on stamp, MITROI and 313 on reverse stamp.
Anyone have a good guess on age? I’m thinking sixties…

OK, I'm not showing off a Peterson but it is tangentially about a Peterson and didn't want to start a thread just for this mini-bitch. I've been toying around with the thought of picking up a SH Hudson for awhile now and like to check SP, particularly its estates. For a while they've had this estate Hudson-a rusticated- for sale at a price only $8 less than new. Why in the heck would anyone buy that instead of simply shelling out $8 more and get new?

OK, succumbed to temptation. That 15% off tripped me into buying a Hudson. Unfortunately, they don't compound discounts. That is, I'm a bronze member and they didn't apply an additional 5%.
