After posting my recent acquisition of a GBD Prehistoric, I saw this thread and decided to get out my other GBD pipes for a group shot. So here's what I have at this time.
From the top:

GBD Prehistoric, London

GBD Speciale, France

GBD International, London

GBD Orly, France

That’s a stunner Al. Nice work.
Is your other 9242 long like this one or the short fatty version. Btw, what’s the story on those two different shapes having the same shape number?

That Jamesons gets picked more often than not over all of my other 9438's. I'd like to think Horry himself made it, but that's unlikely.

Some great pipes in this thread for sure though it's a shame so many pics are gone.
I'm a bit of a GBD collector and was lucky today to score what looks to be a really nice 9438 from @ssjones.
Here are a few from my collection:

My first pipe was a Missouri Meerschaum Lengend 5th Avenue Bent Bit Corn Cob Pipe. The second pipe is an estate Bjarne that I use for aromatics. My third is a beautiful Savinelli: New Art Brown (144 KS) (9mm) that has become my field pipe. It's only been a short time since I entered this hobby, but I wanted a pipe for English tobacco and originally thought I wanted a Poker-style pipe, but ended up discovering and immediately buying this French estate GBD Grotesque Panel (138H). I love the shape and carving of the bowl and the style of the bit. It's a longer pipe than my others and it definitely smokes differently as a result. I really like the pipe quite a bit; it feels great in the hand, too.

Stampings: GBD (in oval) | GROTESQUE | 138H | FRANCE

There isn't very much information about GBD online that I could find and there is even less information available about their Grotesque series. I only found images of a couple other GBD Grotesque pipe and no written information. Also, the number of this pipe doesn't fit with the listing of GBD models that I found. Any additional information about this model/series/pipe would be good to know. Thanks!
