Just to avoid confusion I call all longshanks Canadian.
@papipeguy
Damn, that is one gorgeous pipe!
@ DaveT
Excellent choice of tobacco. BB1938 is probably my favorite blend since it's re-release. Good looking pipe too.
Cranse Iron-
That's not a Canadian! Perhaps a Dublin, but the shank length and shape make it not Canadian, and the bowl cant suggest a Dublin, I believe.
I've got one Canadian, a Blatter & Blatter (which makes it a Canadian Canadian), seen here at point of purchase with its bent Billiard brother (which is also Canadian even if it is not a Canadian). I quite like it.
JPM, the shank looks like the Castello shape 32 don't you think? I thought a long slender shank and tapered stem defined the shape. I have to concede the canted Dublin bowl, though. Perhaps a hybrid?
Maybe! But the chart above seems to be correct. And I don't recall any Canadians with a tapered stem. (speaking of pipes only!) Mostly the ratio of bowl height to length of shank.
@ papipeguy. I probably should have picked up that Canadian. I remember seeing it for sale and thought the price was very reasonable for the work that was put in to the pipe and that he pulled it off. If I was told before hand how it would have been put together I would have said its not gonna look right. Seeing it all done is a beauty!!! It inspired me to make a Canadian. I dont have a lot of wood that can make a long shank pipe.
