You got a good deal! The block BARLING'S MAKE logo makes it a family era pipe and that particular REGd number tells me that it's probably from the 1930's to mid '40's, since that number expired in 1944.
I’m really amazed by both the condition and the quality of the Barling stem. Someone really took care of this pipe. But the stem strikes me as being sturdier than other English pipes, maybe even than Dunhills - although Duns are comfortable and obviously high quality. But this Barling stem seems sturdier. The stem also has almost no wear on it.

I only own two Barlings, but in my humble opinion, they do not take a back seat to any brand... And you are right, they are quite sturdy.

That’s amazing, considering its age. Barling used the highest grade German made Vulcanite. Even my two 1880’s Barlings have stems that look new and flawless.

I'm not familiar with collectable pipes. Does anybody have any idea what I have here? I picked it up in a lot for 10$
You picked up a WW2 era sandblast, probably 1943 thru 44. It looks to be in excellent condition with a nice blast. A little polish on the stem, avoiding the crossed Barling stem Logo, and a normal cleaning and you have about $325 worth of pipe.

Wow! I guess that's why you ask lol. It is one of the nicer ones in the lot.

I own several Barling pots, including this one. Barling was known for the quality of its pots. All of mine are wonderful smoking machines.
If you want to know more about Barling pipes check out the Barling page, which I edited, on Pipedia.org.
Yes, there are “proper” pots
And “lookalike“ pots - ones I refer to as “thick-walled billiards” ;)

Hey gang..... you're obviously a lover of Barling pipes, like myself, or you wouldn't be on this thread. Just now, I was doing a little research on the model 5276 and went to Pipedia. I already knew that our own Bard of Barling's (aka Jesse Silver) had written some stuff for them but HOLY INFO, BATMAN!!! Man, I don't know this much crap about my own family, much less a pipe..... :ROFLMAO:

Take a look at this link and just soak in the data that is shown there. Way to go, Sable.....................
