Here is one I picked up over the weekend for $3.67. It was unreadable, I could barely get a pencil into the bowl. Cleaned up nice. I need some help though, I have no idea on the date or model, I’ve looked about quite a bit to no avail. The model number is 1975 and is stamped EL. It doesn’t have the made in England stamping.999F0677-FF73-42B3-A395-87C649A892F4.jpeg

The lack of a COM stamp doesn't mean anything. Barling was more than a bit inconsistent with nomenclature. It was made for the English market and probably dates from between 1947 and 1962. To give you a tighter range I'd have to see the nomenclature. Also, it would help if there were any kind of steamping, or remnant thereof, on the underside of the stem.

Hi gents I recently came across this Barling “my first of hopefully many” and I’m wondering if anyone can tell me if it’s pre or post transition. The nomenclature is worn pretty bad so please excuse the photo. I’m really happy with the way the pipe smokes and it’s super comfortable in the clench. Anyway thanks for any help you can provide!

Easy, Pre-Transition. Post war, say 1950 -1962. Those Barling's Pot shapes are wonderful smokers.

Bought this one from Briar Blues 10 yrs ago. Not sure when it was made, think it’s 1962 or prior.

Well thank you kindly, the shop I found this one at had one more. It was a bent billiard Garnet grain with a 4 digit shape number, so I’m assuming that one is post transition. I’m planning on going back for it when I get a chance. If I post a picture of it here would you mind helping me date that one as well?
