Show Me Pipe Rack / Storage Options

I love this! I have been searching for something like this for a while now. What I believe is called a butler's hutch. Glass cabinet up top for my beer and liquor glassware, a flat bar area for all my booze and storage below. I'll have to see how pipe accoutrements will play into this.

My Grandma bought this hutch back in the 70's from Montgomery Ward. I've had it since she passed in 2008. It was in my house from that time until we re-did the shop/man-cave and moved it out there. It goes better out there than it did in the house, and it works for my needs.

That's one area. I lean toward moving to drawers some day to reduce sun exposure but I'll probably never get around to it. I have many in other places, too. It gets hard to keep track.

I am at that point. I have a hodgepodge of racks and don’t know where to put my most collectible type pipes. Maybe I will just get a cabinet on Wayfair

I found these cheap adjustable dividers on Amazon to fit in the drawers of the hutch I refurbished. I put a felt liner on the bottom of the drawer first.

I was looking to get something more appropriate to the collection I was gathering, and when I was unable to purchase a model I liked, a friend inspiringly asked, "Well, why don't you make it yourself?"

This is the first "real" woodworking project that I've had in years. Figured that this would be a good warmup before I venture into (attempt) making an actual pipe. I certainly needed the refresher on several things. I live in a small condo downtown, so not much space for power tools (and even less so for the sawdust and the rest of the mess) so I was really glad to be reminded about the TTL makerspace that's close to me.

I had a basic idea of what I wanted. I got inspired by a rack made by KAFpipeWorkshop (credit where it's due) where the pipes are on display slightly sideways. I thought that was much more appealing than the traditional approach, as it showcased the features of each pipe a whole lot better. If pipes are displayed sideways when they're being sold, why not do the same for your own collection?
I did take that one step further and decided to work with live edge wood. I feel it adds way more character. And in a way I let the slab of wood available to me speak to me. It more or less determined what I could do with it in terms of shape and form.

Where did you get the hardware for this? I've been wanting to build one like thus but can't find the hardware.

Here you are. This one has 40 pieces and there are sets with fewer pieces. The boss is using them around the house for other organization projects too.

Used as dividers laying flat for my application I think they are pretty solid. Make no mistake, they can't stand vertically and hold more than a few ounces as vertical shelves. Each piece is 12.5" in length and for the long run you see in my drawer above, I used a dollop of epoxy on the ends to hold two pieces together to make a 25" run.
