LOL, for full disclosure, I did fuss a little lot, but in the end, I just had to shake my head and tell her, "Lucy, you so ridiculous." After raising two girls by myself, I find most disasters have a funny side. I have my own 80's sitcom that follows me everywhere I go.
Ha ha, it was Lemon Joy, but I can only imagine the damage they would have done to a sponge. I'm lucky that getting the janitorial ammonia out didn't occur to her. She tends to grab it for the big clean ups.

OK, so I wasn't even thinking about a soap ghost. 8O Now, I'm worried. They were all great Virginia smokers. I imagine soap is not good to smoke at all. I was thinking that a good rinse... Should I sand the insides of the bowls, or salt and alcohol treat them? Damn.

I've cleaned a couple estate pipes recently. After doing the salt treatment on them I clean them all out and add the pipes and stems to a Tupperware container with about a cup of uncooked white rice with the cover on for one day and a corner up the second day. I've seen the rice color (brown) a slightly. It's must be absorbing moister. This method is recommended to dry out wetted electronics, like my hearing aids, but that is another story.

Thanks for the rice idea. I did that once with my phone. I had them with pipecleaners down the shanks all nights, so they look dry, and no signs of a lemony smell. Fingers crossed.
